I renewed my apartment finally. The timeline goes something like this:
I asked my leasing office for a quote for my friend who is looking for a single apartment, which was $635-$680. Meanwhile I am paying $795.
A few days later, I received a letter to renew my apartment for $819/month.
I looked online for apartments at the same location as I am and discovered an equivalent apartment for $680. Moving fees and signing fees as I estimate, would have put that rate up to something like $710.
I objected and told the leasing office that I wouldn’t renew unless the price dropped to $700.
They countered with something like $750.
I objected.
They gave me a quote of $734.
I accepted for a grand total of an $85/mo discount.
So all of my hard work (and my co-authors’ hard work) after almost two years has finally culminated in a publication. My first First Author Paper has been accepted by NAR, which is a prestigious journal with an impact factor of 7. I’ll add it to my list of publications on the site.
After talking with James about how I can’t wait to have some cheap chocolate bunnies tomorrow, I learned something from him. Apparently the Easter Bunny is God. Therefore we are not dealing with the Holy Trinity but now with the Holy Quartinary: The Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit, and the Easter Bunny.
Every Sunday, Christians should have the blood, the body, and the chocolate of Christ. Please let me know when that part of the service becomes standard! Thanks!
I had a lab cookout and it was so successful–I think I cooked 50 hamburgers and it lasted around 10 hours all together. Thanks everyone for coming and making it so good!
I played a few pranks yesterday. Most notibly, I found the “Cat Found!” advertisement on Craigslist and put Rupal’s name on it. I printed out my modified version and posted it on the bulletin board in the School of Biology stairwell. As I understand it, everyone got a kick out of it when they saw it.
Unfortunately, Rupal found it and put my number on it.
Fortunately, it was the wrong number!
I took it down last night because it was no longer April Fool’s Day.
