There is so much to say ever since I got back online. How did I get offline? Well–about 5 years ago I registered lskatz.com with a kind of shady registrar (if you didn’t know, you have to register a website domain which is on average about $8-15 dollars a year and lskatz.com was $10/year). A few times I had problems with them and so I wanted to transfer the domain to the wonderful hosting and registrar company that I’ve been with for 5 years also–axishost.com.
Unfortunately what came out of this transfer request was that Shady Registrar delayed the transfer until the domain (lskatz.com) expired and then consequently refused to transfer the domain unless I gave them $10 to renew the domain. I didn’t want to deal with them anymore and so I just resorted with the other domain that I own, leekatz.com. Bookmark it.
Anyway now that I have a blog again I feel like there are so many things that have been building up.
First to the writers of 24, please hire a biologist. Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease is indeed caused by a prion, which you are right about. However, a prion is a protein and not a microorganism or something that can be aerosolized as you indicated. Shame. It actually is more commonly transmitted by transplants or grafts related to the brain, or even through cannibalism. There are some indications that eating mad cow beef will transmit it, but it isn’t conclusive according to the CDC.
Movies I’ve seen: Milk=good; Single White Female=good;Goodfellas=very good
School has been really rough recently: teaching, researching, writing, homework, reading papers, attending classes like usual. But I also finished two proposals with two different masters students. There’s also a major test on Tuesday. When I get a chance, I’ll finish with my first draft of my next publication too. Cross your fingers for me for everything. Sorry I haven’t been really that available to everyone, but I hope you understand.
Ok I guess I can’t remember everything right now. Check back later.
