The maintanance guy came by and replaced my crappy rubber chain with a metal one, and so all is well. It turns out that we had crappy rubber ones because they don’t rust and cause problems.
Well, now I have a metal one. What are you gonna do about it, The Flats??? Huh?
My toilet chain came loose yesterday, and I can’t figure it out. Usually chains are metal and they just latch onto the plug. Mine is a white rubber strip that has no real apparent way to connect to the plug.
So, now whenever I use the bathroom and need to flush, I have to manually reach in and flush it, and then scrub my hands and arms thoroughly. I am going to grab maintanance tomorrow…
This is a video created by a Nigerian email scammer who thinks he is producing a video for a scholarship payment from a victim he tried to scam. Unfortunately for this particular scammer, the “victim” fought back and created a fake video production company with promises of cash!
It has to be noted that the two people who appear in this video are probably not scammers themselves. More than likely they are amateur actors paid to do the work on the scammer’s behalf. Even though their acting is petty shaky, they do seem to have had previous experience!
I came back from a bioinformatics conference yesterday… I am not really sure if I learned a lot. In fact, I was extremely tired the entire day, due to only about 6 hours of interrupted sleep. I couldn’t help but sleep a little during the talks. My apologies to Nobel prize winner Andrew Fire, who actually gave an interesting talk and kept me awake the longest. Runner up in giving an interesting talk: Dr. Voit of GA Tech.
My highlight of the conference was a small conversation I had with the person who registered me at 8 in the morning.
Lady: Your last name?
Me: Katz. K-A-T-Z.
Lady: Ok, here’s your name tag.
Me: I guess I’m the only Katz here?
Lady: laughs
Why is it that no one knows that Katz is a common name? I think it’s just that Athens, GA folk are a little ignorant of outside cultures.
It’s March… and Atlanta has turned yellow once again from pollen. I was just musing with Pearl earlier today that if I hadn’t had allergy shots, then I’d probably be on the floor crying instead of being at school.
Today’s pollen count was 2,597 according to the AJC. The AJC also says that for pollen counts above 120,
Almost all people with any sensitivity at all to these pollens & molds will have symptoms. Extremely sensitive people could have severe symptoms.
Yeah, and it was more than 20 times that amount. Instead of being on the floor and crying, I ride my bike outside and occasionally cough and sneeze.
I have to figure out a good present to give to my allergist and his nurses. Any ideas?
