There’s this eighth grader who made a batman costume entirely out of duct tape.
And I bet he’s going to get a duct tape scholarship when he goes to college. Little does he know.

Wilminton, DE must have the BIGGEST post offices ever. I get unsolicited mail from them about 3 to 5 times a week. And it’s always a credit card offer. What’s the dealio, Wilminton? Are you just an evil place?
I saw this quiz and I just had to make one for myself.

Here at Georgia Tech, they spare no expense in making the most ridiculous tests. Like last year, when some tests’ averages were in the 30 to 40% range.
This year, I have the nicest teacher explaining the most difficult things. He’s a great teacher. However, the test that came around last Tuesday… oh man.
The professor sent out an email before the test that stated that it would probably go over the expected time. So instead of 4:30pm to 6:00pm, I was guessing that it might last until 7:00pm.
Little did I know.
When we arrived in the class, the professor decided that we could only finish the first four problems in an hour and a half and the last three could be turned in by midnight. So already he extended the test by six hours. So we had to vacate the class, and instead of finding him to give him the test later on, we had to SCAN IT and EMAIL it to him. Ridiculous! Naturally we can’t complain about that because he holds our lives in his pinky. I need to graduate!
What took me the longest was this problem he gave us that he didn’t even teach. I spent some time on the Internet looking it up and finally figured out that it would require a computer to finish the problem that fast. It required so many calculations and so many iterations on those calculations… I ended up turning in a small computer program I made on the fly to show him what calculations I thought were necessary.
Tech, you have surprised me again. I can’t imagine what else you can surprise me with.
See? I’m not the only one who doesn’t like bad teeth!
http://www.thesuperficial.com/archives/2005/10/25/kirsten_dunst_likes_being_ugly.html
Despite her mom’s constant nagging to straighten her front teeth, Kirsten Dunst refuses to fix them because she thinks they’re sexy and make her special, saying, “That’s one of the things I like about me. Messed-up teeth are so sexy.”
I’ve been the target of a few marketing events recently.
More notable is a razor thing. I am going to try out a razor for 10 days and get $30 for trying it out. (if anybody wants to get in on this, I can call in for you to get you this deal.) John, did the lady call you? I had to leave a message because it was the weekend.
A few weeks ago, I was told that I could try out this wireless headset thing for a month, and I could pay $300 for it. In the end, I decided that it wasn’t for me and also I don’t want to spend that much. So when the package came, I just refused it and sent it back. No one signed for it anyway in the first place.
Lastly, I took a survey at the movies. Ladies and Gentlemen, there is going to be the most horrible movie starring Usher coming soon, and it is going to suck. Starring him as a dj who saves a woman and becomes a bodyguard. It’s supposed to be an action/romance/comedy. Yuck!
I told Maryanne that all of my friends are interesting people. I don’t think that I can think of an exception, although she disagrees with me on who is interesting.
Looks like I’ve stolen two friends from her now. And she’s taken none. Let me add that they’re both interesting people.

Holy crap Open Office actually got good. Maybe not as good as MS Office 2003 or whatever else new MS came out with, but it looks very usable.
http://www.openoffice.org/screenshots/ooo20/index.html
For those of you who don’t know, Open Office is the open source linux yadda yadda free office software that includes a word processor, spreadsheet, and presentation tool. Check it out if you don’t feel like paying for expensive MS Office.
So I’ve been here in NYC since Friday night, and it’s been fun! All day Saturday we walked the streets looking for fun shops and looking at a fair. Got some presents for some people.
Actually, kinda odd, one of the first things that morning was seeing a man trying to pick up an older man off the sidewalk. So I came in there and hoisted him up right away. Odd thing is, the old man kept his back almost horizontal after getting up and just started walking away, mumbling that it was all all right. It was actually pretty funny to see this guy mumbling and walking purposefully away as though this were just some normal occurance and that he was finally on his way, thank you very much.

Many of you ask that question in some form or another. Let me see if I can explain one aspect of bioinformatics. It’s sifting through large amounts of data and giving some sort of output. Take a look at this page:

There are probably about a hundred of those amino acid sequences, and my current project is to sift through the sequences and come up with a six-residue consensus sequence. When my program finally works, it’ll take an hour or so to finish. I’m told that I am going to find a conserved region of transcription binding factor II.
Like you understood that.
Synagogue is really a boring place. I mean, I can read the Hebrew but I don’t know what they’re saying. Not that I really care though because the translation on the other side of the double-page is boring too. It’s all this sit down stand up open to page 243 sit down etc etc for at least 2 hours.
Fortunately, I left after an hour and a half. As it may surprise you, this is one of the shorter services of the year. And I bet it could go up to three hours. Tomorrow is Yom Kippur, and I might just stay home from synagogue and from school just to do a little bit of homework and to take a break from it all.
Since I’m dedicating this post to randomness, I have a few more topics just to ramble on about.
- Ice cream sandwiches. Oh how I missed them! I think that my mom and I are going to go through about 20 of them a week the way we’re eating them. It’s okay because “they’re only two points,” so says my mamma.
- Visiting NYC. I’m going up to NYC for Fall Break to visit Pearl and to visit the relatives who care enough to see me. My aunt called almost five times this week and kept on trying to get out of talking to me and asking for my dad.
“hi is your dad there? this is your aunt.”
(I know this already) “hey how’s it going?”
“Good, is your dad there?”Love you too. Maybe I’ll see you in NY when I’m up there. Maybe.
- John. He got a job at Cingular. Good for you! I sent John a complimentary copy of The Log Song from Ren and Stimpy as a means to celebrate.
- Maryanne. James and I are going to work on her present for her birthday in Nov. to see if we can actually make something that good. We’ll see how it turns out or if we just give her a gift certificate.
One of my favorite comics is rising in the ranks. I just looked up Amy Poehler on imdb.com and found out that she is involved in four upcoming movies. While I didn’t see her for her early career, I certainly watched her in The Upright Citizen’s Brigade and in SNL. Most recently I’ve seen her on Arrested Development. Which of course is the best show in the world.
Amy, you go girl. And come visit me sometime wink wink
I got a call from the SC area code 843 this morning. And everyone I know there isn’t really on my mind.
My ex-girlfriend who is married? Someone from college who wants to visit Atlanta and not visit me but instead calls for directions to a play? Who could it be? My favorite people in SC– Great!
I found out from Maryanne that they were driving to Helen, GA today and so I called her and made sure that she just didn’t go to SC and give me a call. Hope you guys are having fun!
Yes it’s true. People have called me Lee-Lee. That’s probably the closest thing to a nick name I’ve gotten, ever.
